Founder Ven. Omalpe Sobhita Thero lives with the firm conviction that the monk's role is to serve for the happiness and well-being of all beings. Well aware that without life's basic needs, there can be no room for spiritual growth, he strives tirelessly to uplift the living standards of the rural poor while, at the same time, sharing his deep knowledge of the Dhamma with all.

The Sri Bodhiraja Foundation is a non-profit Buddhist charity organization founded in 1993 by Ven Omalpe Sobhita Thero. It is based in Embilipitiya, a remote village in the south of Sri Lanka. Besides bhikkhu training and religious services, the Foundation is engaged in a range of activities from education, social welfare to rural development.

A cattle release programme was held in Dairy Farmers Society premises of Gamini pura, Tanamalwila on 29 Monday with the patronage of Sri Bodhiraja Foundation of Embilipitiya.

The event where 105 cows ware donated to the families in the area was presided over by Venerable Dr. Omalpe Sobhita Maha Thero the chief Sangha Nayaka of Southern Sri Lanka.

Life TV centre and the devotees of Taiwan headed by Most Venerable Hai Tao helped in the programme with their devotional contribution. 



Ceremonial cattle release programme conducted by Sri Bodhiraja Foundation of Embilipitiya was held in Dairy Farmers Society premises of Gamini pura, Tanamalwila  on the 14th  August with the patronage of Venerable Dr. Omalpe Sobhita Nayaka Maha Thero, the chief patriarch of southern Sri Lanka. In the ceremony 106 cows were saved from slaughter and donate to 106 families in the village as the gesture of peace and harmony among the Sinhala and Tamil communities. Contribution for the worthy event is made by the Taiwanese devotees and well-wishers with the guidance of Most Venerable Master Hai Tao Nayaka Thero in Taipai.
