In the year 2004, more than large amount of people died from the Tsunami that devastated the Indian Ocean region and thousands of families were left homeless in Sri Lanka.
To help the many displaced, the Bodhiraja Foundation, with the generous support of the Taiwan Inter-Religious Disaster Fund, the Singapore Red Cross, similar organizations and many individuals initiated the ‘MethSevana’ housing project to provide shelter for the affected families. We have constructed over 700 low cost houses for families affected by the Tsunami from Panadura to Tissamaharama coastal line in the island and helped them by other means to re-build their lives.
Further, we have constructed houses for other homeless and wish to continue the same since there are many families with small children without proper shelter. This would uplift the living standards of the under-privileged people in our society.
